Memo – The Vinyl Library: When Music Becomes Tangible

Music lovers often say that only vinyl can truly convey a genuine composition. In a digital age where music is accessible to everyone and listening requires just a single click, vinyl offers a chance to feel the true essence of a composition and turn listening into an extraordinary experience. The idea behind “Memo Group’s” Vinyl Library project served one purpose: to remind Georgians once again of the works of incredibly talented singers and musicians and to breathe new life into their legacy.
How is a Vinyl Record Created?
The process of publishing a vinyl record is complex and consists of several important stages. The first stage is selecting the singers and musical material to be brought to life in vinyl format. Then begins the selection of songs and the copyright-related processes, which involve numerous additional steps necessary to publish the vinyl in a legally sound manner.
Once legal issues are resolved, the technical stage begins. To ensure the highest quality results, the material for the vinyl is prepared in collaboration with professional musicians, mastering specialists, and sound engineers. For decades, the “Melodia” studio operated in Georgia, where countless Georgian musical masterpieces were recorded and pressed onto vinyl. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the ensuing economic crisis led to the studio’s closure. Since then, vinyl production in Georgia has ceased. Consequently, “Memo” records its vinyl discs in European countries—a process that requires precise management, significant labor, and time. Simultaneously, work on the cover design progresses.
Step by step, through the mobilization of vast time, specialists, and resources, the first record of “Memo’s Vinyl Library” was created, and work continues on future releases.
The First Step: A Unique Voice Revived in Vinyl
Creating a vinyl record means giving music a chance to exist decades from now—allowing someone in a completely different time and space to place the needle and listen as if it were a live performance. It is a bridge between the past and the present, between the music and the person.
“Memo Group” didn’t have to think long about whose record should be the first. The choice fell on Gogi Dolidze, as Gogi is one of those rare artists whose voice reaches the heart and finds a permanent home there. His songs contain both light and sorrow. When he sang, he felt it himself, and because he felt it, the listener could never remain indifferent. We involuntarily follow his emotion, his breath, and the story he sings. Every sound seems to share a boundless love for humanity, the homeland, and song.

to you at this very moment. That is the power of vinyl. This record is an encounter with a voice that connects generations and reminds us of what Georgian song was and should remain: sincere, deep, and human. Gogi Dolidze’s vinyl is already available in “Memo’s” physical and online stores.
This is Only the Beginning…
The Vinyl Library brings together immortal voices. If there is a voice that personifies Georgian song, it is the voice of Hamlet Gonashvili, and his vinyl will soon take its special place in this library. Very soon, “Memo” will present Hamlet Gonashvili’s vinyl to the public.
The strength, roots, and freedom of Georgian polyphony are united in Hamlet Gonashvili’s voice. His singing is a soul turned into melody. Creating this vinyl is a special responsibility, as it aims to bring a voice that has already become a symbol to life on vinyl so it can be heard even more clearly. This record will be a true treasure—an object that encapsulates Georgian identity.
Each of “Memo’s” vinyls is released in a limited edition and is a true gift for those who love Georgia, Georgian music, and who seek out, cherish, and protect their homeland in every detail. And this is only the beginning—”Memo” will offer many more surprises in the form of new records for the Vinyl Library and exclusive Georgian items.
